Inside Britain’s biggest car collection featuring race cars

There’s a huge car collection in Britain that is home to a wide variety of rare classics, including a Lotus Cortina that was used as a getaway vehicle.

The collection is worth millions of dollars, and it includes vintage vehicles as well as modern ones.

It’s hidden in plain sight, inside an unmarked, unassuming warehouse, which is remarkable when you consider what’s inside the collection.

You’d be hard pressed to find another one like this anywhere else in Great Britain.

What’s inside the biggest car collection in Britain

Jonny Smith from the Late Brake Show on YouTube gave us a glimpse inside the collection.

It includes a variety of different vehicles, some of which are incredibly rare.

There’s a Mercedes-Benz racing car with a classic Marlboro livery that would totally look at home in a Mercedes-Benz museum.

Liveries with cigarette brands aren’t a thing anymore, although some tuners still use equivalent color schemes, but they look great on a classic such as this one.

Speaking of race cars, the warehouse is also home to a Ford Focus used by rally legend Colin McRae.

There’s also a McLaren Senna, as well as a swathe of other supercars, including several different Porsche models and, ironically, they look almost normal compared to some of the other cars here.

The story behind the Lotus Cortina

The Lotus Cortina belongs to a long-gone era during which virtually identical Ford and Lotus models would sometimes be sold and marketed under different brands.

The Ford/Lotus Cortina and Ford Escort, which are very similar underneath, are a great example of that.

This one was used as a getaway vehicle as a part of a $3.3 million heist, before being restored and parked here.

That heist is known in the UK as the ‘Great Train Robbery‘ – although nearly everyone involved was caught, so it wasn’t that ‘great’ was it?

It certainly was a famous heist, though, and it captured the public’s imaginations in a way that few crimes – let’s not forget it was a crime – do.

This collection, just like nearly any other collection in the world, pales in comparison to the car collection owned by the Sultan of Brunei.

It still looks mighty impressive, though.

That Cortina looks tremendous, too.
